Natural science concerns with the description, understanding, and prediction of natural phenomena in our Universe. Physics focuses on matter, motion, energy, and fundamental forces, serving as the foundational science for other natural sciences as they operate under the same physical laws. Here I present a theoretical physicist’s perspective of physics as science, philosophy, practice, and research topic, reviewing the development of quantum mechanics, quantum field theory, and string theory.
主讲人 Kimyeong Lee
I am a theoretical physicist working on quantum field theory and string theory. I have been educated in South Korea and United States. I worked as postdoctoral fellow and faculty member in US and also in South Korea.
Recently I joined BIMSA in quantum field theory and string theory group. My research interests are also on cosmology, black holes, particle phenomenology, geometry, representation theory, vertex operator algebras, categorical symmetries, and number theory.
